Arrow Zenithal Primed
For the May 2017 Gamers Haven Hobby Challenge, I decided to paint up Oliver Queen from CW's The Arrow. Here he is Zenithal primed.
Eye Spy a Failure...
Eyes are hard. Period. It takes at least 3 tries for every good set of eyes painted.
Angry Defender of the Paper Towel
The finished Oliver Queen. This is one of my favorite paint jobs I've ever done. I also love the pose of the model. Truly fantastic.
Still Angry at the Paper Towel
Not sure why the Arrow has such disdain for the paper towel, but he does.
September 2016 Caledonia
Here is all of the Caledonians I had painted by the end of September.
First Caledonian List
About a week after a tournament I wanted to attend in Colorado Springs, I finally finished my first Caledonian Highlander Army list. Three angry dogs and some cheerleaders. Good times.
Achilles
The leader of the Assault Sub-Section of ALEPH, better known as the Steel Phalanx. Achilles is a historical reconstruct by the AI known as ALEPH. He's a monster on the table, and incredibly fun to play.
Steel Phalanx Family Photo - September 2016
Here is the current Steel Phalanx family photo. I only have about ten more miniatures to paint in order to complete the Steel Phalanx collection, but they're on hold while I chase other armies.
Dactyl Doctor
The babysitter for Atalanta, Doctor Dactyl is only here because I like his face.
Myrmidon Officer and Machaon
These two are nearly always in my Steel Phalanx lists, and so deserve special mention. Machaon is a WIP 15 Lieutenant and Doctor, instantly qualifying him as the LT for every Steel Phalanx list that doesn't use Achilles. The Myrmidon Officer possesses Chain of Command, so when Machaon goes down, she can take over as LT. It's an incredible combination that makes Steel Phalanx the reliable powerhouse that it is.
Nesaie Alke and Thrasymedes
The two Thorakitai officers are Nesaie and Thrasymedes, and they bring interesting choices to a lot of Steel Phalanx lists. Nesaie carries a Spitfire (which I did not attach), which gives her burst 5 in the active turn. Thras has a light rocket launcher, SMG, and ODD, making him extremely difficult to hit. They're both outstanding units, and tragically underrepresented in many Steel Phalanx lists.
Thorakitai
The Medium Infantry of the Steel Phalanx, the Thorakitai have solid armor and good weapons loadouts. This picture captures how the paint scheme has evolved as I've worked through the Steel Phalanx. In the back left is the first Thorakite, the front left and right are the second wave, and the two blues are my final scheme for them. The final scheme has blue NMM armor chunks with greens, yellows, and greys for accents.
Thamyris the Aiodos
The bard of the Steel Phalanx, Thamyris is tasked with cataloging the Assault Sub-Section for ALEPH. He's also a practically useless hacker on the table.
Atalanta and her Spot Bot
Another ALEPH construct based upon Greek mythology, Atalanta is an amazing huntress. On the table, she's even more of a nightmare, claiming the title of the best sniper in the game thanks to her Spot Bot.
Saint Nisse Claus
An entry for a painting competition at my FLGS.
First Attempt at Edge Lining
After seeing edge lining everywhere, I decided to try it on this Fusilier from Infinity. It really helped bring the armor to life.
Before Edge Lining
Highlighted Troopers
After many hours of re-applying white, the first squad of troopers was finally finished.
Broderick Paints a Stormtrooper
My two year old son always wants to be involved in projects I am working on. Here, he is painting his first Stormtrooper.
Wookie vs Guards
The guards may be my favorite miniature from Imperial Assault that I have painted to date. They turned out dynamic, and with more character than I thought possible.
The First Attempt at Eyes
I really wanted to put some eyes on my officers. Sadly, that did not go well.
Fenn against Officers and Elite Troopers
The finished elite group of Stormtroopers and two of the three officers point angrily at Fenn. In hindsight, I should have highlighted the pointing finger of the officers more. I think it makes a great focus point on the mini, and I didn't do it justice.
Basecoated Survivors vs Zombies
Here, the first Zombicide Survivors face off against some base coated zombies.
