The Beginning...
Is a terrible place to start. There are diapers and generally I'm making messes in them. Horrible idea. Let's skip ahead thirty-ish years.
I'm Dave. Plenty of people call me Springer and my mom still calls me David.
I'm a software engineer and have been doing it professionally for over six years now. I've been programming since I was little. My parents did not let us have a Nintendo back in the day, but my dad had an Apple IIe for his masters degree that I used to learn basic. So really, I've been writing code for over 20 years, I just haven't gotten good at it until recently. And some days, I still have not gotten good at it.
I'm also a husband to an amazing woman, which is vastly more important to me than being a programmer. I would like to say I work hard at our marriage, but the truth is that Ashlee makes it easy. So how about I'm willing to work hard, but my wife's amazing. Let's go with that. This picture on the right remains the most important one I've ever been in.
Even more recently, I've become the father of two little humans, Broderick and Ainsley. They challenge me in ways that only some creepy gypsy lady could have foreseen. It's amazing, humbling, impossible, and satisfying from moment to moment.
And the last category you can place me in is gamer. It's the medium that currently bears the brunt of criticism worldwide (just like poetry, novels, movies, rock music, and TV have done historically), but I think it's maturing into something truly special. People watch Honey Boo Boo, so I don't feel so bad about scheming to save the planet from aliens.
